The Reflection of Love

You lay your head by edge of our bed
you smirk at me with a come
and get me look
it drives me wild
and you know this
so you keep doing it
I start to change from suit
and all I can think about
is how we owned the dance floor
even though we kept stepping on each other’s toes
but I can assure you
your heels hurt far worse than my dress shoes
You ask me how you think tonight went
I simply without thinking answer
“well my toes hurt
and now I know how a father feels with a child on his feet.”
After I say that I turn to see you
you place your right hand on your shoulder
and reply

The sunlight hits your skin
the colour of the purest alabaster
and I am amazed by its brilliance
and your beauty
“Come on I have a surprise!”
I say excitedly
you don’t look thrilled
“Why am I dressed up?
Aren’t we only going for a walk?”
You ask
your voice dripping with borderline anger
“You’ll see,
and I promise it’ll be better than last surprise.”
I reply as I hold the door
and watch as you walk through the threshold
